A one scene assignment from my direct and shoot class, 2011. It definitely belongs in a bigger story, I'm hoping it could be the genesis for a longer movie about two women who become vigilantes and how the sins of the father have been passed down to the children. You won't get all that out of this one scene, but hopefully you enjoy the short story of revenge and the dualism of the two siblings.

So I just finished my latest short film (which you can watch here) but I'm already jumping right into the next ones. The Good Sister is a one scene assignment that I wrote and will be directing for a film class. It is about two sisters exploring the crime scene in which their father was shot and killed.

The Long Way Back Home is a zombie film and drama that I am currently writing and hoping to get off the ground this summer. Long Way Back Home will be about a quarreling couple on the verge of splitting up who are forced to help each other survive the zombie apocalypse for the sake of their infant son.

Souvenir is a script that was given to me by Austin Bennett directly after I finished The Call back in 2008. After that I held onto it, revisiting and rewriting it every now and then until we finally started production at the end of 2010. Now its finally finished and ready to show.

Souvenir is a film about a misanthropic romance novelist with a deadline to meet who purchases an antique typewriter that may or may not possess supernatural powers.

"Souvenir" begins filming October 10th, and stars Will Prestin from my previous film "Moirai." It is about a lonely and obsessive novelist who blurs the lines between fiction and reality.

Assembeling a Crew for a Hitchcockian Horror Thriller

My actor Will Prestin and I are looking to assemble a film crew for our next project "Souvenir." With similarities to Hitchcock and The Twilight Zone, this is a screenplay about a trashy romance novelist who after a long night of work, discovers his fiction has become a reality.

We will eventually be holding auditions for the 5 other roles but right now we are looking to assemble a crew of filmmakers who would be interested in helping with the film. What we need are a Sound guy, Lighting, a Director of Photography, Location Scouter, and possibly a

line producer and special effects person for the gore. I'll even consider a co-director.

I've held onto this script for at least three years, reason being because it is really good and I don't want this film to suck. I know I can't film it all on my own like my previous films so I will need some help.

Our goal right now is to get the film made before Christmas. If you are interested, please join the group, state which position as crew member you would like to have, and also check out the script at the following link:

Good News, Bad News

Production on The Muse has unfortunately been put on hold for the time being and is not expected to start again until the spring. Two reasons being is that filming and scheduling started to get in the way of school, but the biggest reason being that my camera broke on labor day. I will need some time before I have enough money to repair it and I do not want to start filming again on a different camera so I know the footage will match with what I already shot. In the time being though, there will be at least two new smaller productions that will premiere on the site sometime within the Fall semester for my Production class at school.

In other news, both The Call and Death Becomes You is expected to be screened at the Killer Film Festival in Foxboro MA this November. More information will be available on the screening once I hear back from the folks in charge. But for now, check out KillerFilmFest.com.

Well.... The night we were supposed to finish shooting (the last scene), I got into a pretty bad car wreck and that kind of messed things up. UPDATE: Hard Times

Most the time spent lately has been going back again and again on editing together what we shot so far. I also should be getting a new composer soon since it didn't work out so well with the last one. He wasn't an easy guy to keep in touch with, plus I didn't feel his music was right for this film. I might consider sharing the two songs he did send me though online. But yeah, I have a couple of conacts to find other composers through. I'm already talking to one. He seems like a more collaborative guy and actually plays instruments instead of using symphonizers and keyboards.

As for finishing the scenes that Justin is supposed to be in, I'm not sure when that will be anymore. Now that school is started, people tend to be really busy at the moment. Hopefully soon we can get everyone back together again and cause more havoc and get this done within two nights. I'm still trying to keep faith in this project. I think we have a solid location... I think. I'm not sure because once again, people are alot harder to get in contact with now than they were in the summer. We have some what of a back up, I'm just not sure when I can use that one either.

Also, if any of the two actors involved are reading this, PLEASE get in touch with me asap. You guys have been the hardest to keep in touch with. Lets get this thing done and over with but still do a good job. The last things we need to film seem so much easier compared to what we've done so far. Lets get this thing done at least in late September or early October.

Is Brendan the next David O. Russell?

A new video leaked onto the internet today. Its some behind the scenes footage from the new short film The Call, however its not the kind of behind the scenes footage you'd expect from these people.

In this video director Brendan Morrisey can be seen heckling his actress Tania Buonopane, resulting in a pretty intense fight between the two. Its very similar to that video from the set of I Heart Huckabees where director David O. Russell flipped out on Lily Tomlin.

Check out the video. It looks like this Brendan guy is a huge asshole. I think everyone should avoid this movie when it comes out.

Karma Critic is a web site made in response to thelot.com which was used for contestants for the reality TV show On the Lot to submit their films. Many accounts on the web site were suspended and banned by the executives at Fox for rediculous reasons, and Karma Critic was born so filmmakers could have a community where everyone was welcomed.

Back In Business

Now that actress Tania Buonopane has pretty much wrapped so far and no loner has to spend any more excruciating hours screaming in a dirty old boiler room while covered in blood, we will now be looking for a location to shoot Justin Novelline's scenes in. Justin plays the character of Andrew, an ordinary hard working guy with some serious relationship problems who begins receiving bizarre phone calls from Michelle (Tania's character) through out the night.

For anyone new to the web site, The Call is about a young girl who gains conciseness and finds herself being held captive by a sadistic serial killer. While imprisoned in a dark decrepit old basement, she stumbles upon a cell phone left behind by a previous victim and tries to get through to a stranger who has more of a connection to the plot of the killer than she realizes.

On Break Still + New Composer

Just thought I'd post another update just in case anyone out there who was interested started to worry about the state of this project. The reason why we've been on such a long break is because we currently don't have any access to the equipment or locations that we've been using.

The reason being? The cable access studio where we've been borrowing the Canon XL2 and all the other equipment from is also the same place where the boiler room is located that we've been using as a location. It is also where my dad works. The only hours that we've been allowed to shoot there were the same hours that my dad works and right now my parents are in Hawaii. I am not allowed to use the location when he is not present in the building. We are also unable to shoot all the subplot sequences with the Andrew character at the house because I am not allowed to sign the equipment out of the studio, only my dad can for us and once again, he ain't here at the moment. He will be back home this coming Friday so once that is out of the way, we should be back at work on cranking this out in a matter of no time.

Another thing I am happy to announce is that The Call officially has a composer at the helm of the movie score! His name is Jérôme Cloutier and so far he has composed two songs for us. One being an original of his own, the other being a new take on Justin Novelline's theme. Justin is however still working on a new rock version of his theme which will be used in the movie at some point, so basically now we have two musicians working on this project.

I started editing some of the footage we've shot already and I used Jérôme's song in the background and it worked great. The song has a very old school 1970's-80's horror movie vibe to it, like John Carpenter and Goblin. It looks like we might actually have a good movie on our hands!

The Call Theme Song

Justin Novelline who is also playing the role of Andrew in The Call, has written and composed a theme song for the movie after feeling inspired by all the gorey pain and suffering that took place on the first day of shooting.

This here is a demo version of the song. Plans to write more than one version of it have already been discussed and are in the process of being written and composed.

NEW UPDATE: The song was never used in the movie due to it just not fitting in with the finished product. The piano melody at the beginning was used in a teaser trailer though.

Now in Production

On Monday June 25, Principal photography on The Call began and will continue through out the rest of June and into July.

On the first day, everything was a total mess. Despite that, we were able to get some descent shots and the day was not in vain. Instead we will look at Monday as a learning experience and now we are all aware on what type of mistakes we can avoid for the rest of the production and how to be prepared for them.

Our lead actress Tania has been insanely cooperative through out the entire process of our movie making madness to the point that it is almost scarey. We are extremely lucky to have a talented indivdual such as her who has had experience in theater on productions such as Fahrenheit 451, Julius Caesar, and Our Town.

By the end of the day, she was covered in so much dirt and blood that she literally looked like the character Pig-Pen from the old Charlie Brown cartoons after having been stabbed in the chest and head.

Want to check out Tania's acting ahead of time? I have made the following videos by editing together all the rehearsals and auditions from both Tania and Justin. All the footage was shot during pre-production and will not be part of the actual movie. Instead, think of them as a sneak peek at things to come!

I decided to dedicate this website soley to my current video production I'm working on titled "The Call." I will make as many frequent updates as I possibly can as we shoot it.

The Call was originally an untitled screenplay written by Mark Manzi and Brian Latimer and then later sold to Brendan Morrisey who revised and rewrote it and is now currently directing it.

The movie itself will be a short supernatural/horror film all shot on digitla video with a Canon XL2:

Plot: a young girl gains conciseness and finds herself being held captive by a sadistic serial killer. While imprisoned in a dark decrepit old basement, she stumbles upon a cell phone left behind by a previous victim and tries to get through to a stranger who has more of a connection to the plot of the killer than she realizes.
